The Boca Flag Football & Cheerleading
age requirement and age limit have changed for the 2010 season.
Flag football- ages 5 to 13. Cheerleading- ages 4 to 11. If we are
unable to fill a certain age group we will refund money.
That the players learn the fundamentals of the game of football.
That the players learn the value of team work and commitment
Most of all the players have fun.
The primary objective is not winning. Character building, sportsmanship,
and learning the fundamentals will be stressed throughout the season.
The main goal should be to have all the players want to come back
and play again next year.
Coaches
The coaches are volunteers who want to help out the best they can.
Many of them are busy with work, travel and family and can not always
be there for every game practice and game. That is why they will
need help in some way this season.
Players and Positions
The players will experience playing a variety of positions this
year (both on offence and defense). However, there may be times
when you feel your child is not playing enough or is not playing
a certain position enough. While these feelings are common, especially
in Football, please keep in mind that the coaches face many challenges.
Dealing with players whom differ in age, maturity and ability can
be quite difficult. It is important to stay somewhat competitive
and not put a child in a situation that they are unprepared or uncomfortable
and then become discouraged.
Flag Football Rules
Please become familiar with the rules so you understand what penalties will and will not be called.
Referees
Whatever happens, the referees should not be verbally harassed
by the players or spectators.
Equipment
Please make sure your child has a mouth piece and cleats at every practice and game.
Commitment
We all know how families get busy, schedules fill up and at times
you may encounter scheduling conflicts. However, please make every
effort to bring your child to every practice and game as they are
mandatory. We only have X amount of players and must field 11. With
a few scheduling conflicts and illness we can easily be down to
less than 11 and may have to forfeit the game.
Remember it's only a game
Feel free to talk to the coaches if you don't understand something.
Waiting 24 hours before you make comments to a coach after a gmae
is a good rule of thumb to follow. Sometimes a brief chat with a
coach can avoid any potential misunderstandings, ill feeling, etc.
CHEER LOUDLY for your players. Most of all they are children and
need you to be positive and affirming.
